Default Heres an interesting tyre factoid

I see often people wanting to go for 225/45 x 17 over 215/50 x 17 tyres to get "extra tyre width"

Well attached is a tyre datasheet from Nexen on the N8000 tyre. look at the section width of a 225/45 17 it gives a tread section of 225mm
Look then at the 215/50 x 17 it has a section width of 226mm! so has more rubber on the road.
There is also a 14mm height difference meaning that per engine revolution the 215/50 goes further distance wise hence more real world MPG on the exact same amount of vastly overinflated fuel.

The case for using 215/50 rests,,,,,,,,

BTW Just going to try a pair on the nose of the Vectra they got an incredible review despite only a 63% wear rating

Compare this to a Premium brand such as a Continental Sport Contact 3,,,,

Anyone who is interested I shall feedback to once delivered and fitted. They were spectacular value as well

I have just got rid of my Neutons due to the side wall detaching from the main tread on 1 tyre don't trust them at all and they have at least 5mm left. No point talking to Neo Bros after the way they dealt with Seb mine were also elliptical which after visiting Neo Bros appeared to be my wheels so again no joy.
Well last week I put on 4 new Nexon N6000 tyres and the transformation in the car is fantastic less noise, smoother ride and they are 3 steps better in fuel economy ratings to boot. The biggest bonus is my wheels which were arrarently elliptical now run true.
I am sold and won't go near Neutons again and as a bonus I won't have to waste time and energy going to Neo Bros either to be told my good wheels are faulty.

I'd be interested in feedback. I an still on the Neuton 5000's, which I have been very happy with. Trouble is, Seb's story and the other comments on the 8000's have put me off them quite a bit.

Ian mine was an NT5000 that seperated which worried me more as Seb's were the NT8000 which apparently was his fault just like it would have been mine in their eyes only thing is both Seb and I know how are cars and wheels are treated and this is definately not a car or driver issue, I am not even selling the tyres on ebay just giving them away free to a member who saw the condition of the defective tyre and is prepared to take a chance

I would have gone back to NT5000's and no more thought about it, but the NT5000 is missing on ebay the NT8000 is going to cost about £45 a pair more than the Nexen and I have a workmate with the Nexens (NT3000 albeit) that he swears by after replacing a set of Hankook's on his Audi.

I had a long hard look around on ebay then the site http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk and was really impressed with the quality of reviews no matter what tyre (even the good old Goodyear Eagle NCT 5 is there.

There you go bud the tyre looked just like my NT5000 and I have TPMS so never run underinflated

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?165440-Neuton-NT8000-review-s/page2&highlight=bros

The run out was not consistant around the tyre just in a couple of sections so not tracking the tyre wall was wider at this point and also my tyre run out blamed on mis-shapened wheels has strangely gone with the Nexen tyres now fitted, it had cost me about £50 in numerous balance attempts, no worries anymore.

As you know I bought 2 NT8000's and they are Ok. No where near as good as the NCT5's though, thats for sure. Trouble is the NCT5's are twice the price. Seriously if I had the money I would have put NCT5's on again, I know at lot of people do not rate them but I loved mine, shame they are so expensive in 215/50 size. I did seriously look at buying part worn NCT5's as a second option.
