Default Feels like a misfire but no fault codes!

    Hey all,

After a new EGR valve as the old one was periodically failing and new glow plugs all was well for several thousand miles.

The engine is Z19DTH 150 CDTI

Recently, at about 2000rpm, there has been a slight misfire type stutter when under gentle acceleration. When I accelerate fairly hard and the autobox kicks down there is no stutter and the power is seamless like it should be.

There are no fault codes at all and there are no apparent leaks or holes in any of the boost pipes. I'm baffled as the stutter doesnt happen all the time.

    Ideas please as I'm stumped!!

    Cheers!

I would usually go for an egr clean every time with a blip around 1500-2000 rpm, but as yours should be ok with it being fairly new i wouldn't have thought it was the egr, It may be worth a clean to rule it out, i would part it to work both parts separately, sometimes it doesn't take much to make the mechanical side to stick & the same goes for the elec solenoid.

Had the EGR off and its still very clean and moves freely. I had a message flash up on the dash display saying 'Water In Fuel' and the engine died. There were no codes stored again and it started fine again. I suspect the fuel filter needs replacing, so could this be causing a fueling problem at low revs or could it be something more sinister??

Most likely like my first filter, replace filter and fill up with fuel before refitting. Then start car. Will take a few miles to make filter work properly. 1st time, i put some in and had to crank car. Mistake was not putting fuel in housing first and filter in 2nd slowly push it in making it soak, then top up to nearly top of rim.
Few miles of driving it felt like no effort to boost til then it started to function right.

If u say water in fuel, most likely filter failing. Got sensor at bottom of fuel filter housing. Change it :-)

Remember to really hand tighten the screw fitting well. Or it'll leak!
