Default Faulty Thermostat? & Loss of Power

    Hi Everyone

I currently have two problems that I need a little advice on.

    Faulty Thermostat?

My car takes about 15-20 mins (6miles) to get to normal operating temp and when it does it fluctuates between 82 and 88. As like earlier, I was sat at lights and the temp was showing 82 when I pulled off I go upto 70MPH (Dual Carriageway) and the temp shot upto 88 and then once i slowed down to around 30 mph it drops to around 85, then it hovers around 82 to 86 driving on residential streets.

Do you think I have a faulty thermostat?

Loss Of Power and No Turbo

Now in the last week or so when i rev my engine I can hear what sounds like air being sucked in. The noise seems to be coming from the air filter area. I'm leaning towards a split intercooler pipe as I have very little turbo power and mpg is crap (100 miles to twenty quid). I'm not very clued up on cars so don't know what pipes I should be checking.

It has been on a diagnostics machine and the only thing showing is that it needs new glow plugs. EGR valve as been checked and cleaned

The model is Vevcra 1.9 SRI 150

    Thermostat sounds ok mate.

Need to check for small splits etc if you get someone to hold revs on a bit you'll probably be able to hear/ see any blowing ouout failing that find a garage with a smoke pro and it'll find it in about 30 seconds

As above... Thermostat sounds spot-on. It will run a little cooler with this drop in temperature during winter

Thought I give an update. The car went on a smoke pro and the air leak is coming from the intercooler it self which is goosed.

Does anybody think this is what making my engine stall when approaching juntions and at idle? Also have very little turbo power and crap mpg

    Default

The car stalling when approaching junctions and at idle was due to the EGR gaskets needing replacing. The car was stalling twice a day before but since i've changed the gaskets it hasn't stalled in 500 miles. They did look a bit worse for wear
