    Default Help needed from 1.8 vvt exclusiv owners!

    Hi

    I just had my front springs changed at the Vx dealer as part of an insurance claim (one broken at the front) - they would not fit original Vx springs (warranty company penny-pinching) so used a pattern part - apparently one they use all the time and good quality.

    Now I'm convinced the car is sitting higher at the front than it was - I know the exclusiv isn't a low-rider by any means but it does look high - but maybe I'm imagining it! Could this be as a result of the springs being new? It's just got standard suspension so I can't imagine there are that many different sets for them to confuse.

    Could anyone with a standard exclusiv vvt do me a favour and measure their car from the ground to the centre of the front arch when it's on level ground?! My car is bog standard with the 16 inch structure wheels.

    Thanks!

    It takes a little while for the springs to settle in mate.

    Measure it, then do the same in a week, It will have dropped.

    I snapped a spring on my design, had new springs fitted and it did appear to be a little high at the front when first fitted. After a fw weeks they settled down.

    Can always compare them with another car, like mine?? 1.8VVTi Design, therefore on standard suspension, although it does have new springs on.

    Hi, would this mean it has the same suspension as mine? Do you have a side-on pic?

    If anyone can measure from the ground to the centre of the front arches on a 1.8 (ideally exclusiv) that would be great.

    Thanks

    Hi Chip

    Unless you have the SRI with the "sports" chassis which is 15mm lower then the normal chassis, then all vectras should be about the same height.

    Ig I get time, will measure mine tonight for you. I think the Vectras always appear to be a bit nose up anyway, remmber the rear springs will probably be sagging now....

    Hi that would be great thanks! Yes I guess it could be sagging more at the back, it looks level though side-on - I'll take a picture shortly and post it. I am also having a weird issue where it drits left after having the new springs fitted and I'm worried they are wrong or not matched. They were not Vx springs although they were supplied and fitted by the Vx dealer.

    Hi thanks, is that from the ground to the top of the front arch? What model do you have?

    And this is it now from the same angle;

    This is side on now;

    It does look higher at the front now! Question is, does this look right?

    Morning Chip, measured my car this morning from ground to centre of wheel arch is 695mm.

    Your car looks like it has a similar amount of air around the tyres to wheelarches as mine, the front will still have to settle a bit and as previously stated, the rear springs will now be older and have settled.

    Lot of people on here fit lowered springs, mayve if you arent happy then that is the way forward??

    Thanks for that, appreciated! Mine is just over 69cm from the ground to the highest point on the arch so that seems normal. Perhaps it was just sagging a bit before. very relieved as I'm one step closer to making sure all is ok with it!

    I'm still getting a drift to the left, it seems worse than before (ie I noticed it when I picked the car up) but only the springs were changed - I'm really at a loss if springs alone could cause this (they are aftermarket std springs but supplied and fitted by Vx dealer). Any idea?
