    Default Lambda sensors...

Took my car into my local garage/exhaust place yesterday to fix a snapped exhaust support bracket.

I wastched,as I allways do and was surprised to see the earth clamp of the welder being attached to the rear lambda sensors. Didnt say anything at the time tbh.

Anyhow the repair, which became repairs was foc.Result.

Driving last night I noticed the EML on...hmmmmmmmmm

Back to the garage today. A snap on diahnostic tool was used to identify a fault with the second lambda sensor.Fault cleared, just in case.Engine run and the EML came on again.Same fault. Cleared again and fault then confirmed with a 'LIVE' read.

Outcome Im getting a new lambda sensor fitted tomorrow foc...Yeahh.

Why would the sensor go through being used as a grounding point??...

What does this sensor actually do?

It would be damaged as running anything upto 200amps (depending on welder being used/setup etc) would tend to destroy electrical sensors... This is why you use a bit of chassis or something close to the weld area which isn't actually a sensor

Amperage running through sensor probably killed it
it they work by sensing oxygen content and sending info to ecu which will adjust fuel accordingly.

thats the simplest way to explain them
