    Hi all

Just been doing some reading up on how much of an epic fail the CDTI 150 is (Had mine not even 14 days yet..)

Checked the history & it had an EGR last year, drives lovely so I was happy.

After 24hrs I noticed the thermostat doesn't move.. searched it & found its a common prob - Quick call to the dealer I purchased it from & it's now booked in 1st Dec to go back to have 12 mths MOT (Inc purchase price) & now a thermostat under warranty.

I was happy enough at that point as its a 3 month/3000mile warranty.

Last night, doing some more digging about these engines & I thought it'd be the right time to pop the engine cover off & check the condition of my swirl valves..

Why on earth did I even look The actuator is laying next to the swirl valves... Brilliant.

Will be ringing the garage today to politely ask for either a brand new manifold, or a full purchase price refund as i've done under 600 miles in this car & starting to lose my patience already! lol.

Gutted. Really like this car & just purchased a DT UK tuning box for it too!

I have two 150 CDTIs and both running perfectly, one for nearly 100k miles. Best cars I've owned.

Any common rail diesel car will have these issues. Don't think the issues will warrant your money back to be fair.

Oh don't get me wrong I absolutely love the car, they've an awful lot of poke for a family sized car & a lovely drive too.

I've just sent the dealer a text message & asking for a reply ASAP (I had planned to go & transfer my personal plate this friday onto the Vectra..) So i'm eagerly awaiting a reply before work to see if they are prepared to sort it with a new manifold.

These cars are great, I've run our first CDTI (still own it) for nearly 100k miles and had no EGR, DMF etc issues. Current one at 48k miles and also not had EGR or DMF, both 2008 cars. If they are run as they are designed to be i.e. long runs and at temp then you will be fine.
My first Vec experience was the dreaded 2.2i direct. Cost me £3k in 18 months for faults and repairs,.. but I still got another Vec.

you may have niggles to fix on any second hand car, at the end of the day it is not a new car and there will be issues pop up. am sure the dealer will sort them for you but I wouldn't even mention full refund else you will enter into a bad relationship with them, plus I really don't think the issues you mention would allow such a refund.

what year is your car buddy?

These are common fault on the pre 2007 reg cars after that they revised them I have a 07 and so far had no problems with the engine in the year I've had it. I've racked up 35k miles since then and it gets a good boot now and then. The only thing that went on mine was the gearbox as the dif broke.

Yeah you're right, well all I can do now is await their reply.

It's a 2004 54 plate, I really hope they are prepared to fit a new manifold, the thing that worries me if they say "Yeah bring it back & we'll fix it" is that they might try and 'repair' the existing manifold & then blag it until the warranty runs out. I want a NEW one so it lasts!

    Fingers crossed!

How old is your car and how many miles?

If your not the second owner and its not low miles its luck of the draw for all Vectra's, you never really know how the cars been cared for or driven etc... Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet...

so it's an 8 year old car. got to be prepared for such thing i'm afraid. Only thing I've had was on the other Vec at 24 months old (from new), front top shock mount bearings failed and VX advised that they were only covered up to 37k miles and I had covered 40k miles. Had to pay my local mechanic £100 to fix.

I believe 'the joys of motoring' phrase springs to mind. ... if it were low mileage and a 58 or 09 plate Vec then I'd be thinking, but an 8 year old car will have wear and tear problems.

You have a warranty mate - so there is no issue.

Better you see the issue now as apposed to 3 months time.

You have a clear fault that is documented by Vauxhall and the ONLY resolution is a new manifold - simple. The warranty will cover this and you will be smiling again with a shiney new manifold. ALWAYS ask for the old parts back - say you want it for research purpose only, just makes it more difficult for anyone to blag the fact that they have changed it and havent.
