    Default cv joint gone??

My front drivers side wheel has started knocking/clunking when driving very slow or going around corners,at normal driving speeds its fine.I can also feel it slightly through the pedals a little bit when it happens.Ive also noticed today that if i dry steer(i know im not spose to do it but it was for diagnoss perposes only) theres also the same clunking noise but also the steering is jerky

I had a quick look behind the wheel and the CV boot seems intact and no signs of wear in the bushes.

I dont think its suspension related as theres no noise when going over bumps

Anybody got a ideas what it could be

Does it clunk when you change gear and release the clutch to bite?

Steering on full lock and drive off in a circle slowly. A knackered CV joint has a very obvious and noticeable Click Click Click sound too it.

only an outer I think will click click click - if the inner is knackered - the shaft has too much in and out movement causing a clunk but doesnt always click.

    Cheers guys,

It is more of a clunk thank a click and is more noticeable in the car rather than hearing it outside of the car.Ive had CV joints go in the past but i originaly felt a clunk 2 days ago and now is doing it all the time when turning at slow-medium speeds.

Either way,is it a hard job to do myself? i couldnt find a how 2 on here for cv joint

    Thanks again guys

Easy enough to do - I use these people to supply the joints - very good quality units and the seller is very helpful - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-V...item27cd28d40c

    Agree

Just be aware that he doesnt do the inners.

On my old car it was the inners that were shot causing a clunk when coming on and off drive.

I got the full driveshaft with CV's already assembled on them from ECP (approx £80 each side complete all in) and it cured the problem 100% if that helps.

DAM they have gone up.. QDrive ones I bought were less than 100 (once you had the surcharge returned) and very good quality.
