Lightbulb ECU Light on, accelerator pedal fault? need wiring diagrams

Hi can anyone help, I have a 2005 Vectra 1.6 petrol, the ecu light comes on after a few minutes when the car engine warms up, this doesn't seem to happen if the car is moving as opposed to idling in traffic. The fault code blamed the accelerator pedal, so I changed this and the problem is still active. I wonder if anyone else is suffering this issue and if they solved it. I have come to the conclusion that it can be 1 of three things:

    1. the accelerator pedal (now changed)
    2. the loom between the pedal and the ECU or
    3. the ECU.

It would be great if I could get some diagrams and information as to the voltages on each wire in the loom. This way I could test to see if the reported voltages on the ECU match the Voltages at the pedal. I will test the cable for continuity and a load test to see if a conductor has broken down. If that all fails I imagine its off for an ECU fix.

I would really appreciate any advice or wire diagrams it you have them.

Thank you Critch, this sounds like great advice and something I had not considered, I have now looked at the TB and it looks very dirty on the outside, (quite possibly an indication of the inside) off to get some cleaner to do the job as soon as possible. I will keep the thread posted just in case some one else has a similar issue. It seems rare though because I haven't come across a discussion on this topic before. And thanks again for the really quick reply, much appreciated.

No joy with the clean-up. I used copious amounts of carb cleaner on the throttle body and cleaned out the rubber pipe going to the manifold but this has not worked, I pulled all the plugs on the TB and on the ECU and they all look in good order. When you advice dry joints do you mean inside the ECU?

I have the exact same problem! I have a 2005 1.6 Vec same as yours and I have changed the throttle pedal, cable and cleaned out the intake manifold and throttle body! brought it too an auto electrician and he put it on his diagnostic and it said:

Throttle Pos. Sensor 1 and 2
    "Limp-Home" Mode

I then changed the pedal but still the same problem. I brought it to another auto electrician that had the Launch Diagnostic system (awesome ) and more errors came up such as coolant sensor and this is why we thought it was wiring! He told me to change the throttle body as its the last thing to try i think! Ill be doing it at the weekend so ill let you know if it works!

(I brought it to an opel garage and they told me they had the same problem with 2 1.6 zafiras and they had to change the ECU -800 quid from opel! Im hoping this was just them trying to get money out of me and its just the throttle body
