    Default Blower Motor Resistor

    Hi..

Vectra c 52 plate, car had fault with blower motor only working on number 4 setting when bought..

have replaced the resistor with one from ebay, all works but have taken that resistor out now as it got so hot that i couldn't touch it, i take it it should not get that hot..

Would i be best buying a resistor direct from vauxhall..

    Cheers..

    Mike

They do get very hot - there is a thermal fuse that should blow if it gets too hot - is your motor turning freely - if it isn't it will cause it to overheat and blow the fuse

in my opinion the heater blower is never the same once the water comes through the pollen filter and enters the heater blower

it tends to take the grease out of the motor making it squeal this causes it to overheat like alculter said i replaced mine with a genuine resistor pack from vauhall and it lasted 9 months

i got another one from vauxhall but i dont leave it on for a long time or i think it will blow the resistor pack again its only done this since the blockage in the scuttle tray caused this to happen

I found that with mine -water got into the motor and blew the thermal fuse -fixed that and the fan became noisy after a few weeks - soooooo I lubricated the lower bearing and did a how to - http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...k-and-easy-way - not had a problem since -BUT use a spray grease and not WD40 which tends to dry out after a while

I think one or two have bought the Ebay ones and been ok with them - just check the sellers feedback.
