Default Problems with Air bag light, ABS, Anti Skid & Spanner light

    Following from this thread

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...ar-has-started

When I turn the key it appears there is not enough power and the lights on the dash dim.

Today (after not starting for 2 days) all the above lights re appeared after starting the engine.

The spanner light now stays on until the engine has started.

The car does start after a few turns.

Could this be a Battery problem (although was replaced in August) or an Alternator problem not putting enough charge back in.

    Regards.

First off what's static battery voltage?

what does it drop too under cranking?

    it it correct amp rating?

what voltage are you getting at batt when its running?

try removing abs plug an putting some contact cleaner in their.

if dash lights are dim and batt an alt are strong you may have a poor earth behind dash

    UPDATE:

Had the battery replaced and this seems to have cured the problem, the battery was brand new in August 2012 but obviously encountered a fault within its workings.

The replacement battery was replaced under warranty.

Might be worth checking what the voltage is at the battery with the engine running. Rule out a failing alternator

With the battery that was replaced it was 13.9 - 14.1 volts on tick over, which appears to be the correct voltage.

Not checked it with the new battery on.
