Default 2.2 Direct cutting out. Advice needed please :-)

    Evening all.

Lordish (New Member) popped over today so we could read his fault codes. A very nice bloke I might add.

He has what we believe a fuel supply issue as his 2.2 Direct Siggy (05) keeps cutting out. He has been told that all field remedies have been carried out.

Lots of codes were found but many were just stored codes which I cleared for him.

Asked him to take it for a drive and then come back.

There is one code which reappears and seems related.

P1191 - Fuel Pressure System Malfunction
    (52) - Present

Could one of more of you fine people point him in the right direction as what to do next please.

Below are some readouts which I recorded if that helps.

Also here is his post which may have some more info as to the nature of the problem.

    Mass Air Flow Sensor,0.76 V
    Mass Air Flow Sensor,11 kg/h
    Intake Air Temperature,27 °C
    Intake Air Temperature,1.70 V
    Manifold Absolute Pressure,1.05 V
    Knock Control,Inactive
    Desired Fuel Pressure,5.000 kPa
    Fuel Pressure Feedback,11.522 kPa
    Fuel Pressure Feedback,3.2 V
    EGR Valve (Exhaust-Gas Recirculation),Active
EGR Position Feedback (Exhaust Gas Recirculation),0.90 V
EGR Position Commanded (Exhaust Gas Recirculation),0 %
EGR Pulse Ratio (Exhaust Gas Recirculation),40 %
    Fuel Tank Ventilation Valve,Active
    Fuel Tank Ventilation Valve,0 %
Swirl Level Control Solenoid Valve Pulse Ratio,11 %

    Many thanks

    Chris

did you see what the desired and actual fuel pressure was envy, ah yes you did, looks like hpfp is working, looks like its the regulator and or fuel sensor, but moree likely the regulator

    its either:
    hpfp
    fuel regulator
    fuel pressure sensor

mines misbehaving (same engine) and its not my hpfp, ive bought a regualtor but not fitted it as the car is once more behaving itself, is his in constant limp mode?

    Hi Mate

Thanks for your info. Much appreciated.

Im not sure he is limp mode all of the time. I should have asked that DOH!.

He did say that when starting from cold no spanner light appears.

It comes on when the car is warm and then started again.

I'll send him a PM for more info.

    Thanks

his car starts fine from cold, as mine does, im quite confident his hpfp is not casuing the fault, due to the readings you have supplies.

its gona cost him nearly £100 for the regulator to find out, he could also try some cold water drenching the fuel regulator when the fault appears to see if this clears the fault, but yes it will reapear

and he might need a fuel pressure sensor if the regualtor dont cure his problems, shame i aint closer ive got a new regulator sitting here.

We did have a fault come up with the pressure sensor once but my lappy didn't record it for some reason but it failed to show up again after clearing the faults a few times.

The fault P1191 - Fuel Pressure System Malfunction does however come back everytime.

Thanks for the water tip which Im sure he will try first.

Ah your not that far away to pop over to us are you lol

    Cheers pal

Hi there. Firstly many thanks to envy (chris) for taking time out to help me. Top bloke. He went into detail and also fixed my passenger window problem.

While driving home from chris's house it juddered a bit when accelerating and eventually went into limp mode ( I believe). Ill be purchasing a regulator , sensor and filter and see what effect this has. Thanks for everyone's help and especially chris ( envy ). Any more help / info is always appreciated but I believe we are getting to the bottom of it.

lordish, vauxhall should have all your parts in stock, to save you some money possibly, can i ask that you dont buy the fule sensor until you try just the regulator?

you could do what i was going to do and fit the regulator in vauxhalls car park lol.

Ok cheers. Ill try the cold water trick first. If that fails ill do the regulator only. I take it is is fairly simple to fit.
