You definatly DO have to tell your insurance comapny. When you see what could happen then if the insurance company pulls your car to bits after an accident they'll throw the book at you if they find any modications that are not declared. Basically you would be running around in an uninsured car. Think of other road users....
Would push it up £100 - £150 but totally depends on your own circumstances, age, location, NCB etc......etc.......

How much did yours increase by then Joeblack? What did you tell them you have fitted? I don't think they would know what a CATERMAN special is. Mind you they are getting popular now so perhaps it will get put on a list of mods for the insurance company's like alloys, spoiler, CATERMAN special, ect, ect. LOL

    Whoooooo......Fame at last

I declared all my mods and only paid around £40 more. Damn good job too as they paid out in full and more All mods were covered and paid for in the settlement.

For your tuning box what did you tell them you had fitted? A fuel saving device or a tuning box that increases the performance by 35-40bhp? Who do you insure with?

Had this exact dilemma with Direct Line today - the girl had no idea what a tuning box or a remap was - so we had to settle for chipping instead - cost of the year was c£80 increase. When renewal comes in March I will look for more bespoke insurance co's mentioned on this site.

Had the same problem with Direct Line also. Mine is stated on my policy as a "Chipped Management System"...
