Lightbulb £2 Heated windscreen wash system? (DIY)

Well, Winter is on her way. I'm broke, bored and figured this could be knocked up for less than £2 with some off cuts.

I'm guessing they done it with an electric element some where in-line in the pipe work, between the screen wash bottle and the nozzles. Would explain the ready in 30sec after ign on claim?.

DIY?. As per the sketch, reroute a hot water pipe to meet the screen wash pipe. Cut and rejoin both pipes to 15 & 10mm copper pipe with jubilee clips after winding the thinner pipe around the larger. Maybe solder pipes together at points and spray with VHT Black paint?

That system heats the water as it goes through it: http://www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk/heatshot.htm

I just don't think it's worth it for the few days it's really frozen, it only takes 2 minutes with a scraper anyway!

Reminds me of a little mod i did on my old Triumph 2000 in the late 70's. I got a long length of screenwash pipe from the washer pump outlet & wound it around the full length of the heater hoses before it got to the washer jets. The first couple of seconds of screenwash use was hot water & good at removing gunge, especially in wintertime.

Was just going to suggest that - neighbour did it with his old Range Rover and it worked a treat. Tempted to do something similar myself.

Out of boredom I've done a bit of digging and Heatshot is basically the UK brand of AlphaTherm. The more interesting part is they're selling the exact same thing through Amazon US under the AlphaTherm brand for about 50 quid. That makes it more appealing.
