    Default Z20NET Emissions

Got the warning light on the dash today to say there's an issue with the exhaust emissions. What do you guys reckon - O2 sensor? Number 1 or number 2? And is it worth buying one of those code readers/diagnostic thingies from ebay first, or just replace one of the O2 sensors?

Pedal test, read code. Google code and replace the one that needs replacing.

You could allways try spraying carb cleaner down the intake past the sensor in the pipework from the airbox..I did and it cured my emissions light

I kept wondering what might have caused this problem to arise at this particular time, and concluded it was probably when I drove to a training course for my new job on Wednesday, which was held in a posh hotel in the middle of nowhere, and I ended up driving along some tiny country roads as a shortcut, not realising some of them were somewhat flooded. On a couple of occasions the whole of the underside of the car got soaked by standing water, which must have upset one of the sensors. This theory lead me to wonder if the exhaust's heat would, in time, fix the issue, and it seems to have worked. On Friday evening I sat in a 5 mile tailback on the A1(M), and several times the coolant temperature went to 92 degrees before being dragged back down by the radiators fans. Half way through the traffic jam the emissions light turned itself off, and hasn't been back all weekend... touch wood. Happy days hopefully.
