Default Whats so good about HID's?

Ive never even thought about getting HIDs ive always stuck with buying the 6k/7k bulbs off of ebay and never had any dramas. I dont really know anything about them tho really so thats probably why.

Anyone willing just to take me through how they work, what the difference is or whatever about them?

I always said I'd never get HIDS, was very happy with the way my lights were (or so I thought). Until one dark foggy night with the kids in the car when I almost took the car through the central reservation thinking there was a turning there.

I ordered HIDS the next day and fitted them as soon as they arrived, it truly is like night and day, when you see people on here rave on about how it transforms the vision in the dark, it's very very true, I didn't believe it myself until I tried it. I will NEVER go back to standard bulbs in my Vectra again, absolute 100% total and utter convert here, I rarely need to use my main beam the difference is that immense.

HIDs are far cheaper than buying halogen bulbs for £6000 to £7000

From what you lot have said they sound well worth of getting. Are they easy to fit and is there much to do to fit them? What colours have you all got? and whats the legal limit of colour?
I might have to wait till xmas tho but they do sound good.

I use 50w 6000k in mine but most people stick with the 35w ones. I wouldn't go higher than 6000k they start looking very blue above that, a lot of people stick with 4300k for the OEM style look.
