MOT Failed Hmmph :(

Failed today on both outer CV boots, rear pads, windscreen wipers! Also got an advisary notice for my exhaust being loud? I dont think its that loud really! I also had to get them to remove all 4 locking nuts on the wheels as my key was damaged. (McGard locking nuts).£330 all in! Reasonable?

I'd say that's ott tbh. I'd guess at 200 or 250 with new lockers fitted

How long are they claiming for outer CV joints I bet that's where they're making their money on claiming a daft time for the job and with usual garage sky high labour rates.

I've got to replace the gaiter on my NS inner CV. Are they difficult for a DIYer? I am confident with the spanners. Paul

£330 for everything, mot, parts, labour and removing the locking nuts. Not sure how long the labour was as ive only spoke to them over the phone, dropped the car off before work, picking it up later if its ready in time. Just asked them to put the normal wheel nuts on, will decide what type of lockers to buy later. The key on the MgGard ones seemed to break easily

I despise locking wheelnuts. I had two sets break on me - my originals were over-tightened by a muppet garage mechanic and my replacements broke within about 2-3 weeks too. I don't trust them any more. And I have standard wheels! Paul

can only see thoses parts costing max of £100 and thats a guess without priceing the bits, £35 for mot, thats £195 labour thats nearly 5 hours at £40 ph.

still think its a little on the high side, even if it took a hour to remove the wheel nuts, leaves 4 hours to do pads and 2 boots, id be asking what boots are been used, the ones with the slit that get glued back up, or the other way.
