Z18XE/F17 clutch question

Hello,

Please can anybody advise on changing the clutch on a 1.8 Signum. It has a solid flywheel and the gearbox is an F17. I've read somewhere that you can change these without dropping the subframe - just removing the NSF suspension leg and arch liner for access. Can anyone confirm if this is correct, or must the subframe come off? Reason for change is that it's done 140k miles and slips under load (towing). Don't want it to pack up as i use the car for work (65 miles each way), so will change it before it dies.

Not planning to do this immediately, just doing some background finding out before the job becomes urgent.

I believe from what I have read on here that yes you don't have to drop the whole sub frame, just the n/s, to change the clutch on the 1.8. There is enpugh room to get the box out with just that.
