    Default problem getting worse

    2.2 direct sri

some of you may remeber a feww weeks ago my car cut out after managment light came on due to been in traffic for 45mins and only covering quater of mile.

the fault code was realting to fule pressure regulator.

once the car restated is has been fine for 2 weeks until yesterday.

went to vauxhall to order front arbs, got back in car it started, then managment light came on and car cut out again!!

got it started and drove a few hundred yards (with managament light on) and it cut out again, and refused to restart

it then started and drove, however it started playing up again, got to about 40mph, and i lost all power but the engine did not cut out, it just lost its revs and speed, and when the car stopped then engine stopped, when i was oressing the accelarator nothing was happening no revs etc.

managed to get it home in the end.

got on the phone to vaux as i was presuming the pressure reg had finally gone. the parts guy confirmed with a laugh that the part was in stock, i siad id be there to buy one, after i had checked the fault code.

however when checking the fault code this time i got p0100 whihc is to do with the maf!!

can the maf cause the car to just cut out?

not very nice when u pull out of a junction onto a main road and your car just dies!!

so what do you think is wrong.

can the maf problem cut the car out?
could this be a failing coil pack?

i have no fault codes for the hpfp the reg etc this time, i can confirm the hpfp is not at fault.

    any idears lads?

ps went out in the car late last night and there was no problems what so ever, i could jump into the car right now and it would be fine (cold start) but i have no idear if it would be problem free for lots of miles or do what it did to me yesterday.

Sounds like what happened to mine buddy when the fpr had gone and when my high pressure fuel pump lol. I'm sure maf would just make it run a little lumpy or overfuel rather than put it in limp......what fuel pump you got....Siemens or continental.

continental and had the recall done on the regulator few years ago (reg was done on recal my parts guy checked on the computer)

i can 100% rule out the hpfp, its at 6000kpa (think thats the letters) and was using 12000+ kpa, and accorfing to the field remedy the car becomes completely un drivable if the hpfp is at fault.

im tempted to drive to vauxall with my socket set in toe, and try and see if it will cut out again, buy one (regulaor) at vauxall and fit it in there car park lol, see if it cures it.

as i say im not getting any fuel related error codes, but i also understand the coil pack does not throw up a error light if its the coil pack going...

DO you know anyone with same car and can try swapping their MAF onto yours?

I changed the MAF on my 1.8 VVTi, altough I am not sure if that was causing the problems, later transpired to be cam phaser solenoids.

The original MAF may still be good, if someone can confirm it fits, you are welcome to try it to see if this was causin the problems?

hi mate, it does look like the maf is not causing the car to cut out, its just cutting up at 1mph or 50mph, totaly dangerous.

the maf is the least of my worrys lol (providing my research is right and a faulty maf will not cause the car to cut out), i have the 2.2 direct with its legendry fuel problems (hpfp, sensor and regulator issues) i just no its not the hpfp, so im gona do the regulator and see what happens

It does sound more like fuel feed issues rather then mixture control. Hope you get it sorted.
