What about your front ARB Bushes, they can cause a clunking, as well as your drop links too.

Top mounts could be the cause too, but involves removing your front springs with a spring clamp. I got a garage to do mine when i had my front springs changed to Eibach.

Have you looked through the HOW2 index to see if anyone's already done it?

They are easy to check if they are failing though, with the car still move the steering left to right (get someone to do it) and put your hand on the spring/strut and you will feel if its failed or not.

Its easy enough. I changed the front struts on mine & while I was on did the upper bearing, boot & fitted spring protectors. The how 2 lists all the tools you need. The only thing I noticed is that the original sachs strut I took off used a 21mm nut & needed a torx allen key to keep it steady & my new struts use a 22mm nut & standard allen key.
