Default fitting a 2.2 twin exit exhaust onto a 1.8, whats needed?

i have a twin exit system for sale from the 2005 2.2 i am breaking. i have now bought a 2003 1.8 sri, that has a blowing exhaust on the centre section, so thinking of swapping the 2.2 one onto it. i notice in a few threads on here that a reducer is mentioned 55mm to 45mm
i have the twin exit system from where it disconnected from the cat all the way back. how much of this can i use on the 1.8? if i do need to split it somewhere to fit to my existing front section, is this where i need the reducer? i am in contact with a guy on ebay who makes them and i asked if he can do a 55mm to 45mm, he said yes, and he asked

Do you want connector to go "over" your pipes?
Or do you want it to be same outside diameter as your pipes?

what do i need to get as the vec c exhaust has its own clamps dont they? or can i just get these cut off? he said he can put cuts in either end so i can clamp it rather than weld it, which i would rather do as its diy then, so assume they would have to go over the pipes? if i say to him internal diameters of the pipes is 45mm and 55mm and i want them to go over the top so i can clamp it, does this sound right?

personally I think you would be better going to an exhaust centre and get them to do it all .as you will need new hangers fitted
