    Default Windscreen Wipers

Today my 05 Signum Elegance CDTi decided to stop the windscreen wipers working. If I take the blades off the windscreen they still move at the set speeds. However once back on the screen they stick. I can see the motor is trying to move them but they are having no joy.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance

Excellent! just what I needed living in Belfast where it rains all the time.

Are they easy to replace? Or is it a case of taking it to the dealership?

My girlfriends Corsa had a similar problem a few months ago. I was resigned to the fact i would have to replace the motor & mechanism, but decided to see if i could free it up. After about half a can of WD40 sprayed into the wiper spindles & the girlfriends help operating the wipers, i got them freed up & working well, she just has to make sure she uses them a few times a week to keep them freed up.

Thanks I'll try that first. The car was still under guarantee from the garage so they are sending me the part.

It could be the spindles or the linkage that needs lubricating. WD40 etc dry off quiite quickly, so either strip and re-grease or use something like motorbike chain lube it will leave a residual grease/wax.

(Just waiting for Vectra Ste to go on about my fixation with chain lube!)
