Default Milky Oil filler neck and cap

My engine oil light came on today, so stopped and checked oil. Needed a top up so got went home and topped up using a spare litre bottle i got.

Opened up the filler cap and noticed this.

The cap was also covered in it, the oil on dipstick looks fine, just seems to be festering at the top of pipe.

    Any idea's guys.

yep.. and the cure is easy and the fault is all down to the design of the filler neck..

the neck allows oil vapour to reach colder moister air and create the mayonaise..as the oil mist temp is higher in the cam cover's it won't be present in the camcase, just the filler neck..

to cure it in one stroke, just twist out the filler neck and put the cap straight on to the camcover.. just as VX designed it on all previous V6's..

the fitting is the same, and i've done this to both our V6's.. no more mayo for us...

That's spooky - just noticed the same on mine this morning when I was on my way home from Manchester airport. Remembered something about this from a while back so didn't worry. Just hacked off about the screw that decided to deflate my offside rear tyre on the way there last weekend at considerable speed going over Saddleworth. Result - one nearly new 19" Continental in the bin

    Well done Mark.
You may remember that I mentioned this problem with mine when I first joined the forum. Now I know I can reduce or eliminate the problem until the time comes for me to remove one of the cam covers to have a proper look at the state of the oil in one of the heads.
