Default Insurers Cash in again - Speed Awareness Course

    Just read this:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-20328860

Looks like they are now going to ask if you have attended a speed awareness course and then increase your premium accordingly!

I can see the reasoning as some have treated it as a get out of jail free card - but others who had that rare moment of exuberatioin on the loud pedal, its a real kick in the teeth.

I guess it was only a matter of time.

They will always find a way of screwing everyone for more money, as if they don't make enough already...

What's the point of going on a speed awareness course if it's not going to prevent the same as 3 points will. Unless your on 9 and looking at a ban its only a way of not getting anymore points so it's now going to be a pointless exercise if the insurance are going to screw you anyway.

Not sure of the legalities of this as this. Basically They can only use information on your licence no points no extra insurance ?? Makes me wonder how they would find out anyway as this is not a legal and binding document and is not kept on the system as an active caution...

I was wondering how Admiral would find out if you had been on a speed awareness course too.

My insurance is due next month and If I come across a question I dont like I will look elsewhere for a quote.
If everybody stops filling out the questionare's at a point where you think the answer is none of their business, they will soon realise that they are annoying people.

What will they ask next, do you smoke in the car, do you go to the pub for a pint at night or what medication you are on, even if the medication does not affect your driving.

Any excuse to load your premium.

    Off Topic.

A few years ago I was about to renew my household insurance policy, but during a phone call to the insurance company I was told that i had to lock the front and back doors at night and put the keys away out of sight so burglers could find them.
I asked what would happen in the event of a fire, me and wifey were dead and the kids panicked could'nt find the keys??
    No answer.
OK, I then said my wife went downstairs and found a burgler. He wanted to escape, but the door was locked. Would he wait patiently whilst my wife pointed to him out that the keys were in the cupboard under the telephone?
    No Answer.
I told the insurance company to sod off.

All my household doors have turnbuckles on the inside so anyone, inc burglers, can escape quickly.
All the doors have toughened glass in the doors, so not easy to break.

If you have ever called at someones house and they cant open the door because they cant find the keys, then you need to tell them to do a fire escape drill.

To me I'm suprised this wasn't done as if you're caught speeding you're cought breaking the law simple. You have to take what comes with it higher premium etc.

I ahve to say it doesn't put it up that much I have 6points no my license. Its the car modifications that have stung me more.

As you have been made aware of the dangers of speeding by attending the course against a person who has not attended the premium should be lowered . It should work for you. It looks like ignorance is bliss.......

And the insurance company see this as an additional risk as if you have done it once, they expect you to do it again..! Double edged Sword really
