Default can a facelift satnav stereo and screen be fitted to a preface half canbus car?

ifso whats involved? is it as simple as swapping the stereo and paired screen to the car? i assume an iso to quadlock adapter cable would be needed (if there is such a thing???)
    would any programming need doing?

or can you get a preface satnav and screen that swaps straight over?

Not really, full canbus stuff isn't really a viable option in a half canbus car.

I thought it was only me that's fitted and had it fully functioning in a half canbus car? If someone else has done it well done as it was a very expensive modification.

Hmm - If I remember correctly Kman and I were the guys who proved people wrong..

Kman proved that you could fit a CDC40, and scroller controls to his Half-CAN Vectra.

    I proved two other things..
In the very early days - about, it was believed that you could not simply replace a 2005 pre-facelift CD30 and TID with a 2006 facelift CD70 and CID.
Well I did it in the wife's full CAN pre-facelift Vectra-C in about 2008. The only slight niggle being that the facelift CID vent surround is a different profile to that of the pre-facelift surround.
But this can be achieved with the correct tools.

I then went one further in 2009 and fitted a CD70 and GID into my non-CAN Vectra-A (Cavalier Mk3).
This required the use of a half CAN (2003) BCM, full-CAN (2005) Light switch pcb and a half-CAN (2003) CIM module to get it working fully.

    Image001.jpg

I spliced in some scroller control pcb's to operate from my stalk buttons - cruise control buttons on the indicator stalk and the fuel computer buttons on the wiper stalk.

    scrollerb.jpg

    fuelcompsw.jpg

In the Cavalier, the board computer uses KWP protocol communication and diagnostics, whereas the CD70 and GID requires CAN protocol communications. I could not be faffed with this, but it is doable - like Kman says, it would be very expensive.
It can be easily done in the half-CAN vehicles.

It is not a mystically hard modification to do... it just requires a moderate understanding of wiring diagrams, and ISO2KAR conversion loom (or a combination of an SOT122 lead for the half CAN connectors and an SOT122S for the quadlock connectors).

I used an ISO2KAR adapter lead from complexsolutions (INKA-028-8404), to plug into my Cavalier's ISO wiring to take the quadlock head-unit.
Mine is totally free standing, and can be simply un-plugged if I wish to sell the whole lot or fit it to my next car.
I also have the 16 pin EOBD2 (Diagnostic) socket wired in, so that I can change any module settings with my Vauxcom tool.
    All good fun really.

If you look at the discussion pages for the retro-fit of the CD70 that I wrote in the How 2 section, then you will find information about doing this in the half-CAN vehicles.

It is 1000 times easier getting a CD70 and CID to work as a retro-fit project than a NCDC2013 / 2015. There are two threads on-going at the moment about being unable to get the stalk to operate the BC functions on a retro fit NCDC2013.
