DPF - how long do they last?

I suspect the answer is related to how and where the car is driven but I've brought a used car so have no idea how it was driven before but the low mileage might suggest city or town type trips. I understand that the only way to test the DPF is to plug the car in to diagnostics but there seems little point if the DPF last 100,000 miles. My car has done just under 25k _ I now take it for a regular spin on the motorway but have never noticed a DPF regen taking place - but then I've only done a 2k or so. So - should I check the DPF yet or wait a bit longer - if so what age/mileage are they known to fail at!

How long is the piece of string ? How long will auto box lasts for ?? If u do lots of short journeys dpf is not for u I'm afraid as it will get clogged up and not a chance to regenerate .....

Ok I'll try another angle - when driven regularly for long distances etc what is the usual fequency of a DPF regen - is it every few hundred miles or every few thousand? Should I notice it happening?

It shouldn't be a problem for u then some people noticing when it does regen , I can never tell when it does I've had the car for nearly 2 years and did 100k in it , there few ppl with close mileage of 200k with original dpf ... Best think don't worry about it :d

The would pull a eml on if it wasn't happy. Get it deleted if your that worried

awell it will have dpf when i had mine it done a regen once a full tank of fuel

How could you tell it was doing a regen? Is there a light or something?
