    Default vectra c 1.8 ecotec

i need help ill start from the beginning
the car is a 2002 vectra 1.8 ecotec engine which i think is a z16xe engine
it developed a real bad oil leak from the cambelt end so i put a new crankshaft oil seal in new cambelt and that hoping it wud be done started it up no sign of oil i thought great until i took it for a drive
it was only a short drive and oil light came on got it back home opened the bonnet to find oil everywhere on cambelt side of engine again and i mean everywhere as it has been sprayed by the pullys
does anyone have any ideas where it could be coming from i.e head gasket or is there any oil way plugs on that side of the engine
i have tried to look on the net for engine pictures but no luck
the car has only done 72000 just hoping its not engine gone really
any help wud be much appreciated

The only thing I can suggest you do, is, clean it all down, leave the cam belt cover off and start the car and watch for the oil. You did put the oil filler cap back on??

serrious problem if you lost the oil that quick, id do as benson said, where did u get the seal from? looks like its still coming from the area you went to fix, cant see this much oil escaping from the rocker cover gasket, ive not know oil to leak from the head gasket either unless something very serrious has happend.

i think its still coming from the crank, possibly a wrong smaller seal was used by mistake?

Thanks guys I don't think it was a genuine vauxhall one and from what I have read that's a bad idea ill strip it down again and have another look
one thing it couldn't be the drill ways on the head where they still for the oil ways to go as the have to drill all the way through to get the swarf out just wondering
ill keep u updating of what I find

put a genuine vauxhall seal in it blew it out again as soon as i took it for a drive i ran it for 10 mins before all was fine seems to blow them out when driving
could it be the oil pump over pressurising itself has anyone heard of this before is there a solution or is it a new pump
also does anyone know of anywhere to get a cheapish one or has one lying around they no longer need

I wouldnt have thought that there was an oil feed into the seal or near the seal, cams normally run in lubricated bearings, like your big ends? Sounds like your engine is building up pressure. internally??
