Exclamation URGENT MOT tomorrow rear seat belt not latching

    As title

Car booked for MOT tomorrow and the middle rear seat belt will not latch into the retainer

Can anyone shed any light on a possible fix

Car is a vectra elite 04 1.9 cdti 120. Seat belt buckle has like a nipple on the end where it would latch in

If no short term fix is available, if i remove the retainer and the strap would it pass the MOT as it would be classed as not fitted

    Regards

Check the buckle with a toothpick or a hoover is case the kids have posted sweet wrappers in it.

as above it will no doubt be bits in the retainer

failing that if you can put a child seat (not a booster seat) in and jam the seat belt clip in or a small cable tie to hold it in place they will no doubt mark it as not "tested child seat fitted" ive had this many times from various garages

is the back of the seat locked back properly into position, i had a vec b where the seatbelt wouldnt unwind if the seat wasnt locked, must be a safety thing, is there a similer thing with the c?

there is but it stops the seat belt from locking when you pull it hard as it would when you had a crash it does not affect the retainer clip though

Fiddle it until it clips in place, then leave it clipped in for the test. Probably something stuck in the mechanism, usual culprit is coins, found 20p in one of mine once lol

Mine failed on the rear centre seatbelt last week, it's reel was locked with the seatbelt retracted, bashed the seatback with my elbow and it free'd it, but locked 3 out of 5 times after i tried it. So i pulled it out and clipped it into the buckle, and left it like that for the mot. Passed after that, tester saw the buckle was secure and left it

theres a little ball bearing that locks it i opened mine up and gave it a squirt of oil solved that issue

that was on a car i bought from the garage that had just passed its mot that day before it was delivered to me supposedly long story short after a few weeks and a million issues i refused to pay for it and told them to come collect it
