Depends on the garage it seems.

If you follow the letter of law they should fail but quite a few garages pass them still.

The aftermarket HIDs will pass an MOT. Some makes of car had factory fit HIDs without washers and auto adjusters, so the MOT stations can't fail them. It's only if you've got non functioning headlight washers and auto adjusters that they'll fail - oh and if they're too blue in colour.

Can't comment on the LEDs though.

    That bristol street macon way?
Handy to know, I personally won't take my car Vauxhall, but my brother owns a vectra c and a mate owns a signum and they both wanna do HID conversions now seeing mine. My only worry being they both take their car's to the main dealer for MOT.

HIDs in the main beams aren't preactical because of the delay in reaching full brightness, as well as the safety implications.

Also, HID lifespan can be reduced by turning them on and off at frequent intervals.

Yes Macon Way Bristol St motors. Only take my car there for MOT nothing else. Used that garage for many years just for MOT and they seem fair , helpful and they only charged me £40 for the MOT.

I also use that garage for my vx parts on trade club discount through this forum. Parts dept are very helpful and polite too.

But they did quote me £580 for new brake pipes thou.
Will take my car to a local garage i use sometimes to get the pipes done.
