Default how to clear a spanner light fault

i did a fault code check on my car and got 0246 turbo wastegate solenoid high. so i decided to remove my dump vale as the spanner/car light had been on since this was fitted, left my battery dissconnected for 5mins and then road tested. no light came back on and the car went a lot better. after i started a few hours later the light was on straight away and stays on. did code test and again 0246. have i still got the same problem or have i not got rid of it properly?

Would need a fault code reader to delete, But leaving the battery off for 30 min, MAY delete the light.

Disconnecting the battery is time consuming and inconvenient
Normal practice to disable a fault code (so that safe mode is switched off) is to allow at least 30 minutes to pass and then restart the engine
However for more serious fault codes safe mode remains enabled and the only way to resolve these is to replace the faulty part and to then repeat the process
On restarting the EMS should then notice the change and disable the fault

If you resolve the fault, then the car/spanner light should go out of its own accord once the engine is running.

If it's on until the engine is running, its just indicating a stored but non current fault code. After 'x' amount of clean starts or 'x' days of clean starts, the stored fault code will auto delete.

If the fault light is still on, then there must a problem that's still causing it.
