    Default steering problem

Hi guys ive got a 06 vectra cdti 1.9 120bhp and for a while now i have had bother with steering. It feels like tight spots when turning and then sometimes the steering wheel doesnt go back after turning also heavy steering but then it goes back to normal. There is also a creaking "plastic" noise coming through the steering wheel. Levels ok no warning lights .....any ideas thanks

Drain and refill the power steering fluid.

Or do what I did ..... Siphon out the fluid from the reservoir, then refill that with new fluid. Worked a treat for me, and saved a full drain / refill / bleed

Hi mate ive drained off the old fluid looked like muddy water refilled it with new fluid ....no difference. Ive still got tight spots when turning also theres a plastic klunking noise coming from the steering wheel when turning. No warning lights on dashboard but sometimes the steering is fine .....possible battery problem or something on the suspension????

Happened to me a while ago. steering stiff at low revs. Battery replaced, problem gone. Power steering is electricaly operated. Best and cheapest option is test the battery. Good luck with it.

Could be a CV joint if it clicks when you turn and accelerate.

Otherwise a worn ball joint / track rod end / bush.

Most likely to be tracking. But could be linked to the above
