Default 4 new tyres.. 32psi... correct?

Hi guys, i know this has a few threads on what pressure to run in tyres etc

I have just had 4 new tyres fitted and have changed from 215 50 17 to 225 45 17. i asked the tyre place to inflate them to 36psi as thats what i run normally, he said yes but i will be over inflating them..

he said recommended tyre pressure for me was 32psi all round to which i mentioned my book says 33psi all round.. he then took me to the car to which the 2 fronts were on pads which showed how the tyre was sat on the floor... at 36 psi it showed that the tyre was running over inflated and that 32 psi was infact the exact pressure the tyre was sat at its best when i contact with the road...

but still looking at them the look so 'flat'?? can this be correct?
mpg still as high as it was when running 36psi

    opinions...

IIRC 32 is the correct pressure, but 36 is the ECO setting. Just had 2 tyres fitted this week, they put 32 in, I put it up then to 36 and tbh it feels really light now, so much so im going to lower it to 34 and see how that feels. I had my old tyres at 36 and they felt fine, maybe still need to scrub the tyres in.

The handbook states 33 or 35/42 for your engine, with that tyre size
Why did you want to use 36?
An odd response from the tyre fitter as they can use up to 46 in this tyre size

I've always run my previous 215/50/17 and current 225/45/17's at 32psi all round.

No abnormal tyre wear (apart from the usual wear on the inner edge of the rears)

With radial tyres you're meant to have a slight bulge in the side wall at the bottom. If there is no bulge then they're over inflated.

which is why i use to run 36psi all round as i stuck to that rule, but then the tyre fitter showed me the contact point with the tyre and road and it was actually over inflated...

i think i will scrub the tyres in then see how it feels then..

What about just strub the plus 2 so u always get 34 by using the revised rule of 2x dia equals. For over 17" tyres. Under 17 would have a plus 2. Makes sense to me.

Why not just set them to what the handbook advises?

34 was a little soft i felt. 36 improoved the steering right up for me and with 36 you can afford to loose a couple of psi over time.

nope,.. this means I'm running 38psi!!... am on 18s running at 34.
handbook states 33 all round increasing to 36 depending on load. 34 covers it nicely
