    Default Autotrader Ads

Just been looking at putting an ad on Autotrader... Was quite suprised at the cost!

    Is it money well spent?

Are results better then the likes of ebay?

I advertised a car on Autotrader a few months back - it was very expensive and I kept getting scam emails that Autotrader were passing on to me that were obviously crap - from businessmen in Nigeria, etc. Complained but they weren't interested. I use Ebay now and place a classified ad with a fixed price - you can amend your ad at anytime, put 12 photos on, and as much of a write up as you want - ad lasts 28 days costs around £14. I sold a Corsa Sxi within 24hours of putting it on and have an Astra on at the moment with quite a bit of interest - I prefer Ebay any day - buts that's my opinion. Another option for a free ad is Gumtree a mate of mine has had some good results with them.

I too have used auto trader in the past and after spending a lot of money with them, decided to advertise on eBay classified ads.

I looked at autotrader to list the signum and saw that it was only £24 for 3 weeks on web , mobile and magazine so was about to do the advert until I realised that price was only for cars under £1000 !!!

Did a classified on eBay in the end

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Forum Runner

I used ebay to sell ours, but as a classified ad, no one could 'buy it now', it was up to me to cancel the ad after i sold it, cost £14.99 and that was it, i would definatly use it again if i was to sell another

    Thanks,

I came to much the same conclusion... I'll stick with Ebay. Currently listed the car as a Buy it now/Best offer but when that runs out (if no buyers) ill go down the classified route.

    Cheers

If I remember correctly if you sell it that way -you have to pay quite a bit commision to them when you sell it - not sure of the exact figures but I would check out the costs if you sell

I used autotrader to sell my previous car Civic Type R cost me £36 for two weeks but it did sell and seemed to have a fair bit of interest from private and trade oh and the odd timewaster but you always get them so it was worth it for me

Always worth putting it on FridayAd website too - it's free and it's surprising how many people use it for buying cars; I've sold my last two using it.
