    Default Gearbox Help Please

    Hi
Nipped out last night and on the way back changing gears seemed quite clunky, got home slipped it in neutral moved the gear stick and there is no resistance there at all, it moves easily from side to side.
Any help or advice on whats caused this and how to fix it would be great.
    Thanks in advance
    Donna (1.8LS petrol)

O mine you can see some rods or cables on the top of the gear box. From looking in the engine bay.

Might be something at the gear stick end. But. I would have thought that would affect all gears.

Its moves too freely in neutral and towards each gear then seems to clunk into gear. All gears are the same.
Ive looked in the manual and seen how to remove things to get to the gear stick end so I'll try that.
    Thank you

Took the gear stick end to pieces in my lunch break today and can see the problem. To the left of the gear stick there is like a spring that has a hard plastic cover on each end. One end has snapped just as it goes inot the plastic....pics below
Guess my next questions are, what is this called and is it easy to replace?

Looks like it might be easier to replace the gear stick.

    CLICKY HERE

Easier than messing on with a snapped bit of plastic, unless you can do a temporary repair so it's driveable ?
