First post for ages as I haven't been on the forum for a while and had really began to dislike my 1.9 cdti sri.
Dont get me wrong,I love the engine.Very economical and plenty of pull but the back end of the car makes all sorts of REALLY annoying creaks, squeeks, groans and rattles.
Very close to getting shot of it but like having no monthly car payments and at 84000 there should be plenty of life in in the old girl yet(05 plate). So I am going to try and fix these noises.
parcel shelf rattles like crazy, tried all manner of foams and rubbers but no joy.Very annoying squeek from rear which I think is the tailgate seals rubbing,I have managed to make this quieter by adjusting the boot latch but still there.creaking may be arb bushes, not sure though.
I also noticed the clutch slip a couple of times when stamping on the go pedal in 3rd when overtaking but since taking the dtuk green box off and sticking it in the cupboard a couple of months ago the clutch is fine with no slipping.
I have lowered the car,I bought the springs from ebay. The advert said they were pi 35mm lowerering springs and only been fitted for a couple of months to a 1.9cdti.However I think the car sits very low, could someone who has a 1.9sri lowered on 35mm drop springs(which from what i have read should only lower an sri 20mm)please measure how many fingers they can fit between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch.I think either the springs are goosed or more than a 35mm or for a vectra with a lower axle weight than a 1.9cdti.
On The plus side the car has just been mot'd and taxed for another year, also got the dodgy thermostat changed and temp now sits at a steady 85.
One last question for all you knowledgeable people, due to a glow plug issue the spanner light was on for quite few months, this has now been fixed. However I have became so used to the spanner light being for a little while after starting the car I can't remember what it's meant to do under normal conditions. It now goes out about a second after starting the car,Is this normal?
Thank you for reading and for any replies,
