Default P2279 fault when egr mapped out.

What else could be the problem if I occasionally get p2279 when the egr valve has been mapped out and blanked off?

P2279 is an intake leak error - so although I don't know for sure how the ECU makes a decision on this, it sounds like the MAP sensor is not agreeing with the MAF sensor - i.e. the pressure in the inlet manifold isn't what it should be given the air flow measured at the MAF. So the following springs to mind:-
    1) air leak between MAF and MAP - so hose from MAF to turbo, turbo to intercooler, intercooler itself (probable), intercooler to inlet manifold.
    2) dodgy MAF
    3) dodgy MAP

I had this and was sure it was my EGR.

Turned out to be a leak where the flexi pipe after the AFM meets the 90 degree pipe.

The jubilee clip was tight and everything looked fine till I used a smoke machine on it and it was leaking quite a bit. Bit of silicon on the pipe and refitted it and its now fine.

Easy way of testing for intake leak(between maf and turbo) is remove maf with pipe still attatched start the car get someone to rev gently and put your hand over the front of maf it will suck a bit but if theres a leak you will know, leaving the maf still attatched stops the eml coming on
