My tip would be, watch out for the top bits of the wheel arch when you take it off, you can quite easily scratch the rear quarter paintwork.

Cheers, thats a good tip. Is there any requirement to take the rear wheels off to gain access to screws under the wheel arches?

I'll have a crack at it (hopefully tomorrow) and report my findings. my driveway is on a bit of a slope, so if the wheels can stay on it'll be a help.
I might even take a load of pictures and do a How2 (if I ever get time).

remember to protect your bumper mate when its off, lay it on a old bed sheet or something. right out of the way from where your working.

Its a very easy job. Some screws in the wheel arch, remove the metal strip thingy around the catch . Eemove the little strip that just clips on and off at the top of the bumper to show the remaining screws etc.
The wifes vec show car is currently being stripped for parts before i scrap it, keep an eye on the sales section.. https://www.vectra-c.com/forum/garage_vehicle.php?do=view_vehicle&id=709
