Hi all,
My dealer has finally got deliveries of the swirl valve for my 1.9 CDTI (150), it only took just short of 2 months!.
Fair play to the service manager, he did keep me informed and was supprised at how long it took, apparently there is big demand for them at the moment.
It is not just the swirl valve being replaced, but the complete intake manifold, so it looks like there is an issue with the design.
For info, my vec is a facelift 55 plate 1.9 SRi, now with 16562 miles on the clock.
The car will have to be at the dealers for two days and they are supplying me with a loan car for the period FOC as the car is still under warranty.
To be honest the problem only occured whilst I was doing short journeys and after it was diagnosed, and played up a few more times, I went for a blast down the motorway, and drove the car at 5000rpm for 5 minutes, never had any more bother with the swirl valve after that and the car pulled better after that as well.
Must have blown the cobwebs out of the cylinders doing that
Anyone else suffering with the same probs, I've read a few postings on here about probs with this swirl valve, but am wondering wether it's just the tip of the iceberg, esp. seeing how popular this engine is with users.
