Default Smeared windscreen - help please

The windscreen on my car has something on it that I can't get rid of - when its raining the wipers smear the screen making it very difficult see and at night in rain its virtually impossible to see through the screen with oncoming vehicles approaching. I have tried everything to clear the screen - using Autoglym glass polish and Halfords own brand glass cutting stuff but its still a problem. I have put new Bosch wiper blades on. When the screen is dry it is crystal clean but as soon as it rains it smears again.
Can anyone recommend anything that will help - I'm seriously considering replacing the screen

Washing up liquid or if really bad a cutting compound... Washing up liquid usually strips everything.

You could try washing the windscreen with some washing up liquid. That ought to remove most contaminants. Some detailing enthuisiasts use it to remove previously applied products, including waxes. Just a thought. Good luck with it. It sounds like a most unpleasant problem. Paul

Bw warned, RainX is one of these love or hate type things, and it's nigh on impossible to get rid of once applied. I tried it on my previous Vectra, and personally didn't like the effect it had, particularly at night. If you read up on it, you get folk trying paint-stripper and all sorts to get shot of it!

Try Bar Keepers Friend. It's a powder type cleaner/stain remover that's been around for years, but well worth trying for this. Supermarkets stock it and it's only 2 or 3 quid.
