Default Swapping Audio systems between cars

I have a CD opera in my 06 with the DAB module, lovely system!

Im looking at buying an 09 vectra now and want to bring the old audio to the new one, as its just a bulk standard system.

I know the display and radios are matched, but is the DAB module connected to the CAN BUS or radio?

Can it all be just swapped over between cars??

the DAB module is not part of the radio - i know this as I had CD Opera and a friend tried it in his standard non DAB car and the DAB did not work - so the DAB module must be some where in the car. HTH

The DAB module is paired to the radio, same as the display is.
The DAB module is well hidden behind and below the glovebox.
You will need the DAB aerial, loom from aerial to DAB module and radio, loom from DAB module to Radio.

Ah, brill so I will just whip it all out, maybe the loom too.

Is there any known issues with the can bus and swapping radios?

Well, Ive done it this afternoon, god knows how anyone listens to FM radio??

The DAB module just unbolted and fitted straight back into the new motor with all the interconnecting harness already in!

Just swapped the radios and displays.

Swapped the antennas over and found Im missing the harness from the rear to the front!

So not to bad, I might fit another Ariel for the DAB or look at pulling out the antenna harness.

You can get DAB patch aerials, just like many Vectra owners have used Patch aerials for their retro-fit GPS systems.

If you do get a patch aerial, do make sure it is for DAB, and not for GPS or GSM.

I know you have done this now, but as a broad outline.

To retro-fit the Head-unit (EHU), DAB unit and Display... it is easiest just to leave them all paired together.
If you have the UHP4 - you should also transfer this across too as ALL 4 components are paired (where fitted).

As you know the origin of the DAB set-up, keep the audio pass number safe from your old car, as you will need this in future, should you wish to add or remove any one of the infotainment components.

As you are now aware, you do need to transfer as much of the DAB aerial cabling too as you can. The DAB cables are additional to the existing standard FM radio aerial cabling, and are not fitted as standard in non-DAB vehicles.

If your new Vectra is the same set-up regarding fuel type and air-con type then your board computer figures and the display features will be okay.

If it is different in either case, you will need some minor programming of the code index's and variance configuration tables in the Display to put these right.
