    Default This Vehicle is Reversing!

Well following on from this thread I bought a set of these parking sensors and two of these relays yesterday and also headed out to Maplin to get myself one of these recommended by Ben H in an older thread, some of these, some of these, some of these 142mm in fetching blue and 10m of this in 24 strand shocking green

Well my parking sensor kit arrived today and I was very impressed with the service ... it was dispatched literally 10 minutes after buying and paying for them yesterday but I'm still waiting for my relays

Well the kit appears to be as cheap as cheap can be in terms of build quality but the sensors look well put together so as long as it works what the hey ... think I may have to buy a rheostat to fit to the lead to the piezo buzzer but I'll test the volume as it is first to see what I think.

Sooo ... why two relays, 10m of wire and some small terminal clips I hear you ask ... or am I just hearing things Well they are for my master plan!! I plan to mute my stereo & pause my CD when I engage reverse gear

    So the plan is:

Relay 2 is switched by the 12v output of relay 1 (which is to bypass the light your way home and bulb check features) which in turn connects the wire connected to the mute input on my head unit to a ground source

Can't wait for my relays to arrive now to get wiring and drilling

Ohhhh now I'm gonna have to do it in daylight which means waiting until the weekend after next oh alright then TBH I was thinking of doing that anyway and maybe a how-to joby on my parrot kit (with relevent credit to Ben H and DennisTheMenace of corse) as I will have the glovebox, a-pillar trim and head unit out again so I can take pictures and describe in easyish steps.

I'm not planning on using the park assist button though as it's only rear sensors I'm fitting. I was toying with the idea of using it to enable/disable the audio mute function (for 27,000 point turns) but it would need not to be a stateless switch for this ... does anyone know if the Park Assist Button is stateless (ie doesn't click on and click off ... simply makes when pushed and breaks when released) or does anyone know if a button is available for the Vectra dash button slots like this?

The sensor button switches a light in it on/off, it returns to the same position and resets itself. The front sensors are also switched on when you select reverse, and this in turn lights the switch on the dash. hth ...
