    Default Tyre advice

Hi. Anyone have experience downsizing from 235 35 19 to 225 17 45. Would the extra 10mm make much difference on a smooth ride. My 19's really do make for an uncomfortable ride, and want to change them.

Also a 19 tyre with 35 profile must be much bigger than a 17 with 45 profile so how does that effect the speedo?

Please no offers for my 19's as that got my last post removed.

    Thanks

The difference is night and day mate. I fitted 17s onto my runabout car after it having flakes fitted and the ride now is lovely. An even better compromise would be 18s as they still look great but give a good ride

It is the same difference as fitting 215/50/17 over 225/45/17. People have different opinions on this. The 225 has a resultant half inch less OD which in my opinion is noticable and the tyre looks small. Some don't notice it and prefer to do this for cost reasons, but I 've not seen much variance but the choices of tyre is greater.

I downsized to 225/45/17 preface SRI's from the 235/35/19 I had on my snowflakes. The ride is so much better there is no way I am putting my snowflakes back on.

I've got snowies with 235/35/19's on and I was considering the 40 profile when renewing the tyres... Does the 40 profile offer any improvement... I'm not concerned about speedo being out as I have GPS speed camera device with speed readout which is more accurate anyway....

this is what's stopped me from upgrading from my 18" XP2s to 19" VXRs... I felt the harsher ride on the 18"s was bad enough. Our other SRI on 17"s is a far better ride.
