Default Wet Passenger Side at Foot area

    Hi,

I have bought a Vectra 53 and a few days noticed that the passenger footrest and under passendger the seat are very wet (where the floor dips). After researching about the Sctuttle I have removed this from the bonnet next to pollen filter.

I am not seeing the water going away from the passenger side and now wondering if water is coming from elsewhere ? There are no leaks around the seals Ive checked they it all looks dry around the door and window seals. anybody know what else the cause could be. Or is it old water from the scuttle. The sctuttle area is dry now

    Any help would be appreicated.

There may be water in the blower motor housing now.

Remove the glove box and remove the heater motor resistor. See if any water comes out.

have you lifted the carpet and dryed it,you will find there is about 40mm of foam full of water under the carpet it will take forever to dry if you don't do it

I tried soaking up the water but it still feels the same as before. Is there just one scuttle hole on the 53 plate models? What is the best method to removed the carpet I think I will need to do this now and inspect further ?

There is another scuttle hole at the drivers side, under the mesh and wiper assembly. You can get at it with a long piece of wire poked through the mesh to clear the hole. If you think that the holes are clear then either do what Jonnybravo suggests or put bath towels on the carpet to draw the worst of the water then leave the towels on the floor to soak up whats left. You will need to change the towels for dry ones each night and drive around with the window open a bit and the heater (if its ok as tony-1977 suggested) blasting hot air to the floor. It will take a few days to get the worst of it to dry out and for the windows to stop steaming up but after about a week it should be ok.

Get a few of these: http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...8ank7j_J8LWrfw

Worked well for me alongside towels, heater and open window.
