Default Vectra c 1.8 sri 2006 running very rough and eml on. Plz help

Hi, i have a 2006 vectra c 1.8 sri and a few weeks ago i noticed a very slight uneven idle, that went within a few days and tbh i didnt really think too much of it.
today i was driving home from work when suddenly the engine started running extremely rough and the engine light is perminenly on. i swiched it off and left for 10 mins and no change!
it doesnt seem to idle roughly only running rough, if your easy on the accelerator its not as bad but if you rev it slightly it starts running really really bad.
any help would be greatly apprechiated.

Can you read the codes on your car using somethign like opcom or the pedal test (check the how to section for the pedel test way).

If a light came on then chances are its recorded a fault which will help point to the issue.

0597 - coolant thermostat valve circuit low voltage.
    0564 - cruise control fault (I think)
0420 - cat system below threshold (I think)

Someone will be allong shortly who will confirm these all to you. Chances are 0564 is unrelated. 0597 may be afecting the car and causing the issues with 0820. but that's all guess work from me Im afraid

All owners of French cars using that engine should carry a spare coil pack in the boot

I dont think the Z18XER has an EGR Valve, on the off chance you have one of the last of the Z18XE in your MY06 the EGR had it deleted at the end of 2003.
When you rev the car are you getting plenty of exhaust gases coming out the tail pipe?

Hi mate, thanks for UR reply, went out and bought a new coil pack and new plugs before. When I took the plugs out I seen the problem straight away....there was a huge gap in the plugs, they where the originals! Put new plugs in and the old coil pack and it's running like a dream and really quite again. Can't believe the plugs caused that!
    Cheers for your help guys
