Default Z18XER (1.8VVT) Cam Pulley Noise

    Hi Chaps,

Just got back in after doing an engine clean with AG Engine cleaner....

Fired it up, and christ on a cross trainer my Cam Pullies are ticking like mad! Took it for a spin to warm it up (20 mile run). Still there. It's very regular. and annoying. Just worried now. Not sure how the AG got in there. I was very careful with it.

    Any one else do this?
How much are new ones/Cambelt Replacement?

Can you give them a squirt of WD40 to see if it quietens them down?

They are under the Cam Belt Cover. I don't understand how the AG stuff could have got there?

I wonder if it's just a coincidence... but it's a HUGE one if it is. They where fine when I got back from Halfords.
I know because I left the engine running whilst I decided how to use the AG Spray.

Not sure why they would start making a racket now though. She's just had new oil and a Vx Filter too. (as per usual)

Sounds like the engine cleaner has got in and dissolved any lubricant that was in there, take the cover off and lube the tensioners[lightly] with some wd40 to start with and see how you get on,you might have to get some decent lube on later as wd40 will not last long-call into Halfrauds or somebody like that,if you don't do anything you may damage the bearings in your tensioner's----Dave

Thanks, I'll give it a bash tomorrow morning. Do you think lithium grease will be OK for a Lube for the bearings?
