Hi,
My timing belt has failed on a 2004 1.9 CDTI(120).
I just wondered if anyone knows whether these engines damage valves when the belt goes?
Thanks
James

What else do they damage?
You need to take the head of to check, my 150 failed at high speed on the motorway, two garages said it would be toast... 6 new rockers and a belt later all is fine, the rockers are about £8+ each tho...
Just thought i'd ask before I started stripping.
Ive not long finished replacing the front sub frame, all 3 radiators, the front bumper and front n/s wing after an accident.
Guess its going to be off the road for a while longer.
Cheers guys
After doing a good 30 of these now I have not come across any that have done valve damage.
They are designed to break rockers.
Take the cam cover off and replace the damaged rockers (Never had to take a head off)
The 120 will usually do a lot more damage than the 150 when a timing belt snaps.
Ah didnt notice the 120 bit.
Scrap everything I said lol
