Default Zafira B coolant temp sensor

Does any one have any knowledge of the zafira b 1.8 engine trying to find where the coolant temp sensor is located on the car as these stupid cars have to temp gauge and the fan ain't kicking in and it overheats. Grrrrrr lol

Should be on the thermostat housing. Follow the top hose to the engine.

Edit: Sorry Zafira B, so should be the Z18XER, vvt engine. So if same as the Vec C VVt its on the right hand side of the Cylinder head, just above the gear box.

Is the picture the same as your engine? The temp sender has a black multi plug connector IIRC.

Here is a thermostat housing for a 1.8 vvt, the black bit is the temp sender unit.

Did they sell you one like this?

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Opel-Vectr...item43b4f9655f

If so they've sold you the wrong one. TBH Im not sure if the CTS is available separately for the VVt. Have you checked the fuses are ok? If you pull the multiplug off the thermostat housing I am pretty sure the fan should kick in. It does on Vec's, imagine it will on the Zaf.

Right they did sell me the one you put a link up off so I'm not going mad cos I thought I couldn't see anything like it on the car lol.. These zafira's are just stupid having no temp gauge what were Vauxhall thinking!!! Basically what's happening is the fan doesn't kick in when the car gets hot now I've used my diagnostic software we are not allowed to mention lol and tested the fans and they both work and then watched the water temp climb on the pc it hits about 104 and starts bubbling and then over heats no sign of fans cutting in so mu question is would the cts cause the fans not to cut in or am I barking up the wrong tree lol

They have sold you one for the z18xe, not the z18xer, tbh Im sure you cant get a cts for the 1.8vvt on its own. All I can think of is the cts is knackered, and most likely you will need to change the whole thermostat unit. In the meantime if the temp starts to climb, whack the heater on hot and the fan on full and open a window, should help prevent it over heating mate.

Unplug the plug on the thermostat housing and see if fans run with engine on? If they do the wiring is ok it's ya sensor. If not check the wiring
