    Default Parrot bluetooth

Can someone tell me if parrot kits are universal - I want one but can't afford a new one so am looking at ebay, but I need to know if any parrot will work or whether it needs to be Vx specific

    Thanks

Parrots are stand alone aftermarket units. They do not need to be VX specific.

You'll just need the right adapter for your stereo.

I have just had one installed, you just need the SOT-122 autoleads ISO connector. Some threads say you need a SOT-122s to maintain the steering wheel controls for the standard radio but you don't. The parrot is then controlled by the packaged remote.

Really good kit, sounds quality with my iPhone plugged in is great with album art displayed on screen, plus is can stream music via Bluetooth too.

You can buy an adaptor that makes steering wheel control operate parrot but its about £80 and not sure it's worth it.

Halfords install wasn't great, changed a couple of fitting issues myself.

I also have one and LOVE IT
I would quite like to use my steering wheel controls though because the wireless remote seems to be a bit "picky" when it is approaching the need to change the battery, but does the wheel "kit" still drive the remote, or is it independant and completely wired ? Anyone know where to get one, the pricing and the day to day working of it ?
Mine is fitted in my 2004 Preface Gsi connecting to my NCDC2013.
    Cheers

to use the steering wheel controls you need the 'unika' kit which is the canbus adapter basically, its expensive, but cant comment of its functionality as not got it fitted.

    Thanks for the info Plasma.

I've done some googling now but the links to further manufacturer info on most agents websites actually link to Parrot and they have removed the info so a lot of unanswered questions still.

Has anyone on the forum actually fitted one of these to a preface with half can ? The unit description describes them as being suitable for canbus cars, but is my 2004 Gsi preface with a half can, still classified as a canbus model ?

Sorry for the hijack, but this all seems quite relevant to the OP's question.

    Cheers

Found a working link. It appears the unika kit will only work with the facelift canbus Vectras and not the preface .

This link was working today http://www.parrot.com/usa/support/parrot-unika
