Default 3.2 - alternator voltage fluctuates

    Hi!

Noticed today that the alternator voltage fluctuates/ripples between 13.0-14.3V when idle and stationary. This can be seen on the interior and exterior lights also, brightness changes quite rapidly.

I have already changed the battery, but it didn't help.

What could cause this fluctuation to the voltage?

    Maybe a failing alternator?

    Obviously

The voltage regulator is most likely embedded in the alternator.
But is there anything else that could cause the fluctuation to the voltage (f.ex. CIM, control modules)?

Is it ok and steady when rev'd? The Vec's electrohydraulic power steering pump is notoriously hard on the alternator.

I have to check the voltage with revs. The fluctuation occurs at idle and "hands off" from steering wheel (I was measuring the voltage directly from the battery with multimeter), so the PAS pump is not in use, and does not cause this.

Car is 9 years old and has just reached 100000 miles.
