    Default Engine tempature

Hi, i have an 06 vectra sri 2.2 direct, it had a full service yesterday, i have never noticed it before but the engine temp gauge kept on moving between 85-95 whilst driving, mainly sitting on a little up hill and then again sitting on the slope going down a hill at some lights, it usually just sits on 85 and doesnt move, what would cause this? is it a common problem or nothing to worry about?

I have the same car buddy and mine just stays just under 90 all the time, 95 when sat in traffic then goes back down when moving. Might be a thermostat on its way out not sure tho buddy. Hopefully someone will be along soon.

But you would be better posting this in the correct section buddy (Troubleshooting - Engine and drivetrain) as more people will look at it.

tbh i dont even think your fan would kick in whilst driving, the thermostat should control the heat along with the wind while driving

Mine started doing that, and I could pull the engine temperature right down by putting the heater full on. The cooling fan was forever coming on and off as well when the temp roase above 90 deg C.

Fitted a new thermostat, along with flushing the system and putting in new antifreeze and now the gauge tends to sit around the 82 to 86 mark, and gets warmer quicker, and doesn't make the engine go cold when putting the heater on.

The standard stat is rated at 82 deg C. Since changing the stat the cooling fan hardly comes on anymore.
