Default Question for the IT gurus around here...

    Hi,

To cut the long story short...my laptop`s hdd is gone with the wind (it may fail soon so windows cannot install on it).
I have an external hdd (wd my passport) connected trough usb. I tried to open it and put it into the laptop, but as the laptop has sata connectivity, it does not fit into the laptop bay.
So my curly mind had an idea...what if i try to install windows on the external drive? I connect it to the laptop and try to install on it.

In bios I can see the drive, as external hdd so i guess it should be allright...or not?

    thanks guys....

Whats your long term plan? If its to continue to use the USB drive then to be honest I would just buy a new drive. They are dirt cheap. Maybe even consider SSD as these have got alot cheaper recently
